It's Keiki Paddling Time

Attention Parents! Recruitment has begun for our Summer Keiki Outrigger Canoe Paddling program (kids 12 thru 19 yrs). Starting May 21st and ending July 25th, the Summer Keiki Program will hold practice Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on the beach at the end of Spinnaker Drive in Ventura, across from the Channel Islands National Park visitors Center. 2012 Race Season Practices

OC6 race season practices will start Tuesday February 28th. Practice will be, until the time change, Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm (warm up in the harbor, and check for paddlers at 5:30pm), Saturday at 8am, and Sunday at 9am. With the time change Tuesday and Thursday will be at 5:30pm.

Fall/Winter Practice Schedule

With the time change we've switched to our Fall/Winter practice schedule. Hokuloa will be practicing at the following times until Spring:

Mondays/Wednesdays - 6:30am & 10:30am
Tuesdays/Thursdays - 5:30am & 4:30pm
Saturdays - 8:00am
Sundays - 9:00am

The above practices will be a mix of OC1/OC2 sessions and OC6 sessions depending on attendance.

New paddlers are welcome every Saturday during the Fall/Winter schedule.

Family of the Wa'a

Summer Keiki Paddling

Hokuloa's Summer Keiki (kid's) Paddling program is right around the corner! The program runs from June 20 through July 23 and focuses on the basic skills of outrigger canoe paddling including boat-handling, steering and rigging plus teamwork and having fun!

Intro to Outrigger Canoeing

Interested in learning how to paddle this fall? On September 17th and 18^th Hokuloa Outrigger Canoe Club will be teaching an Introduction to Outrigger Canoeing course.  Offered through the Ventura College Community Education office, this exciting, hands-on program is the perfect opportunity for students to get actively immersed into one of the most unique and rewarding sports on the water.

Schedule:

September 17th – 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM – Lecture on Hawaiian Outrigger Culture, Technique and Racing – Held at Ventura College Annex 4 (directions at the bottom of the page)

September 17th – 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM – Lunch on your own or with Hokuloa at Harbor Café

September 17th – 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM – On-the-water technique instruction (at Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura Harbor)

September 18th – 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM – On-the-water technique instruction (at Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura Harbor)

Cost:

$69.00 for individuals or $89.000 for two people, paid through Ventura College Community Education

No Practice Sunday 5/15

There will be no practice on Sunday 5/15 due to the out of town race on Saturday.
