Hokuloa's summer Keiki (kids) program focuses on the basic skills of outrigger canoe paddling including boat-handling, steering and rigging plus teamwork and having fun! The program includes two iron races June 2nd and June 30th and three sprint races on July 14th, July 21st and July 28th
Who: Boys and Girls 12 -19 years of age. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards comfortably. Bring sunblock, water, clothes that can get wet (hat, board shorts, rash guard/running shirt), sandals.
Note: Children under the age of 13 MUST wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD). You are responsible for providing this important safety equipment. If you have questions about a proper PFD for your child, the local Harbor Patrol can provide advice.
When: Monday & Wednesday nights from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm May 21st through July 25th.
Where: Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura Harbor across from the Channel Islands National Park Visitors Center at the end of Spinnaker Drive.
Cost: $150 per paddler. Includes use of club equipment, membership dues, race fees and a race jersey.
Note: Race fees include one event per race day. Fees to race in multiple events on a given race day are the responsibility of the paddler.
